Overview:

A place for newly settled and second generation Filipino youth to bring their inner strengths out and to grow. The Saturday gathering provides newly settled Filipino youth and children with a safe, fun, inviting and positive space in Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) to positively express themselves, make new friends, maintain current friendships and to have fun.  The primary goal is to provide Filipino youth with the support and activities they need to become engaged in their community in a positive manner.  Saturday Gathering aims to empower and encourage Filipino youth to learn and develop skills that would promote their successes in elementary and high schools.  The main activities in supporting this goal are to provide sports development; Basketball, Dance, Mixed Martial Arts and Volleyball, culture and arts, cooking, English skills development, and participating in community development initiatives. We see this program as a fun, forever growing program aimed at bettering support Filipino youth in our community and to better support their transitions into their schools and new lives in Vancouver.
