Vote for the Vancouver International Children’s Festival (VICF) Adopt a Family Program and help us Share the Magic by bringing 500 families to the Festival for free!

For the past six years, the Vancouver International Children’s Festival (VICF) has been inviting families new to Canada to the Festival free of charge, providing a day of fun, learning and laughter for parents and their children. The Adopt a Family Program helps newcomers to Canada connect with each other and through shared experiences, develop new friendships and feel a greater sense of belonging in the Vancouver community.

For many families entering Canada, integration into society can be challenging. In partnership with organizations such as Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISS) and Windsor Community Learning Centre, the VICF has been working hard to make that transition smoother by helping new families to participate in one of Metro Vancouver’s most popular family events.

The Vancouver International Children’s Festival offers a fun, safe and inclusive space for families to spend time together, have fun, be inspired and meet other families. Each year, participants in our Adopt a Family Program are awed and inspired by professional artists from around the world and get to engage in their own arts practice through hands-on arts and cultural activities.

For many of our participants, it is the first time the children have seen live theatre or heard live music performed on a stage. Many children have never made their own arts and crafts before and it is truly a gift to see the joy on their faces after they’ve experienced these opportunities for the very first time.

The VICF Adopt a Family Program ensures families from all backgrounds in our community experience the enriching performances and arts activities only the Vancouver International Children’s Festival can offer!
