The Greater Moncton SPCA is one of the largest animal shelters in the Atlantic Region. We handle literally thousands of animals every year from not only our own City, but all outlying areas in Southern New Brunswick. Unfortunately, we are experiencing an ever increasing number of animals needing our help and sadly, we just do not have the room or resources to help them all.

 Our mission is:
*To provide a safe, comfortable haven for animals in need, and to rehabilitate and relocate as many animals as possible.
*To foster a healthy companionship between people and animals.
*To enhance the animal's quality of life and to proactively promote their intrinsic value.
*To prevent cruelty, neglect, carelessness and/or ignorance toward animals through example, education, awareness and advocacy.

Currently we have an over load of dogs and see no end in sight. We would like to be able to help all the dogs coming into our care but, we do not have to kennel space to house them.  In order to help more dogs, we need to increase the number of outdoor kennels that we have on site. An additional forty runs would mean a second chance to countless animals.  We will not turn away an animal in need. This means that on occasion, we receive dogs with questionable temperaments. These animals need to have time to settle before having to go through an evaluation. In order to handle these animals with the least amount of stress on them and the staff, we would like to be able to modify seven of the kennels we currently have, into a guillotine style kennel. This would allow the dogs indoor/outdoor access without having to be handled until they are ready.

We simply do not have the funds to proceed with either of the above mentioned projects. We hope that you will take our request under consideration. We offer a very valuable service to our community and would like to improve that service in every way that we can.
