OverviewA group of talented youth and enthusiastic youth workers are excited to meet the famillies of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation and of Dawson City, Yukon Territory for a fun, interactive and creative workshop. This workshop is free and open to those with children in their lives.
Many folks have come together to build this workshop with the hope of becomming connected to the village in which we raise our children. Our aim is to enhance our awareness around bullying, map out our communitys' needs and identify resources for healthy living.
The workshop will offer:
- the sense that you are not alone in your concerns about bullying,
- a t-shirt that you've screened yourself (got to love do-it-yourself!),
- the freshness that comes to you after yoga and guided relaxation,
- prizes donated from great people in great places,
- information about anti-bullying initiatives, current research and resources,
- ideas on how to play as a family,
- self compassion,
- tips for families, care givers, youth workers and professionals,
- practiced Compassionate Listening skills,
- a broader communication perspective,
- a sharing of ideas about conflict resolution,
- new allies and friends
Feedback from participants will be used by the Municipal Community Development team as a way of identifying sustainable methods of keeping youth safe in rural northern communities. At the same time, families will be connected to a support about anti-bullying initiatives.
Holistic, interactive and compassionate based skills and connectedness is what is needed to conquer bullying.
