The Outdoor Recreation Council of British Columbia (ORC) has as its members 20 of the leading provincial outdoor recreation organizations in the Province, which represent many clubs and groups and up to 100,000 individuals. Also a number of regional and local recreation organizations are members. We keep them informed about events and developments which affect public outdoor recreation such as matters which concern parks and trails.
One of the most misunderstood aspects of organizations and individuals organizing outdoor recreation activities and events is the question of liability and the need to have insurance and get individuals to sign releases of liability. ORC is accustomed to organizing workshops for park and trail related issues. We want to organize a workshop in 2012 about questions surrounding liability.
The cost of holding such a workshop is expected to be about $10,000 so we need approximately this amount for a one day workshop.
