How To Create A Winning Idea

Here's how to earn votes and impress our judges.

You're the expert when it comes to knowing what your community needs to succeed. Here are some ideas to increase your chances of winning:

Promote your idea

Once you've registered and submitted your idea (learn how here) start raking in the votes by promoting it. We suggest taking a look at last year's winners for inspiration, and then following the steps below.

Get an insurance broker to support your idea

When a broker votes for an idea, it's automatically entered into the brokerage competition, giving it another chance to win funding. So be sure to opt in and use our Find a Broker tool to locate a broker in your community.

Reach out to family and friends

Ask family and friends to show their support, put up posters in your neighbourhood, or host a BBQ to spread the word. Be sure to use the email option on the Settings page, and it will link back to your idea.

Harness the power of social media

Promoting your idea on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and all your favourite online communities is an easy and effective way to spread the word. Check out the tools provided on our website to get started.

Contact the press

Create a press kit and send it to community newspapers, radio and television stations to gain their support and generate excitement.

Vote often

You have 15 votes for each of the three rounds. Let your supporters know that they can vote for your idea every day, and ask them to tell their friends!

Keep updating your idea

A picture's worth a thousand words, and a video's made up of thousands of pictures, so you do the math. New photos and videos are a great way to remind visitors of your story throughout the competition.
