Funding Ideas

The $500,000 Aviva Community Fund will be allocated to the top ideas selected to help benefit the community.

How are funds allocated?

First, the finalists are ranked
Once the Judging phase of the competition is completed, the 25 top finalist ideas will be ranked among groups of Small, Medium, and Big Ideas to make positive change in communities across Canada. The Aviva Community Fund will fund at least one idea from each price point and as many ideas as it can.

Then, budgets are determined for the top ideas
We'll assess the top ranked Small, Medium, and Big Ideas to figure out exactly how much they'll cost to implement. Then, we'll create an appropriate budget for each idea to make them happen.

The top ideas will get the funding they need
The Aviva Community Fund has a total of $500,000 to fund the top ideas. The allocation of the Aviva Community Fund will begin with the highest ranked ideas. As you can well understand, each idea will cost a different amount to implement, so the number of ideas that are funded will be determined by how much the top-ranking ideas will cost.

We want to make sure these ideas are successful-there's nothing worse than an underfunded project. So while we'd love to fund many ideas, we will also be realistic about ensuring each funded idea has all the resources it needs to be fully completed to truly make a difference and have a positive impact on the community.

We want to see the Aviva Community Fund bring to life as many ideas to create positive change as possible. So, after the first ideas are funded, we'll keep funding the next-ranked ideas until the entire Aviva Community Fund of $500,000 has been allocated. At a minimum, one large, one medium, and one small idea will be funded.

Here comes the best part! The top ideas to create positive change will happen!
We have brought in a community funding specialist who will manage the allocation of the funds and identify who will implement the funded ideas.

If your idea is selected for funding, we'll do everything we can to execute the original idea as intended. In circumstances where putting your idea into action isn't possible, for example because of lack of access to a location or a lack of cooperation with a governing body, your idea may need to be modified in order to make it happen. This modification will only occur where there is a roadblock to implementation, and we will advise you of any alterations to the original submission.

What is my commitment if I win?

We're providing the resources to make your change happen. By submitting an idea, you're not committing to do any work beyond your submission (unless, of course, you'd like to be involved). If your idea is selected, we'll contact you to let you know and see if you want to be involved in the creation of the project if it's practical to do so.

We want to make sure the full $500,000 is used
