For Aviva, Corporate Responsibility means taking positive action and making responsible, sustainable choices. The reason we're in business is to provide prosperity and peace of mind to our customers. But we touch many other lives every day, from our employees to our local communities to the environment that we all share.

Taking positive action

As an insurance organization, protecting against harm, damage and loss is what we are here to do. Our job is not just to help our customers restore balance after suffering from auto collisions, storms and other life traumas. We believe in taking care of the world in which we live, so our global family of companies took the positive action of becoming the first insurance organization to be carbon neutral across our worldwide operations.

Many of our employees take positive action in their own communities making a strong contribution as active and busy volunteers. We support these employees by providing up to 15 hours' paid volunteering each year. In addition, we actively support a number of charitable organizations, both through corporate giving and through the generosity of our employees. Since 2007, we have partnered with ThinkFirst Foundation Canada, a charitable organization taking positive action towards the prevention of injury in children and youth. Like Aviva, ThinkFirst is in the business of protection.

At Aviva, we plan, implement and monitor our Corporate Responsibility actions against many different aspects of our business. This includes how we conduct business with our customers, employees, brokers and other business partners. It also is reflected in our support of human rights, how we manage health and safety issues, our responsibility and actions in the community, as well as our commitment to the environment. Corporate Responsibility affects every aspect of our day-to-day business and involves every employee.
