Solar/Wind Power To Fund Charities

Idea acf5254:

Power for Charitie$

Posted November 28, 2009

Most recently the Ontario Government is now implementing an all time high payment to energy providers of 80 cents per KW/hour for solar energy generated. This amount has been promised for a minimum of 20 years. It is commonly known as the "Feed in Tarrif". This government payment for energy could be a regular and renewable source of financing for local charities that benefit homeless or troubled youth, or other such causes where the government has not been able to fund financial help. I once was homeless, and lived in my car, so I understand how it feels. It is these "holes in the system" I would like to see funded by the establishment of a solar/wind farm in Durham Region. Every year a larger portion of the ' Feed in Tarrif" payments for electricity would go to adding new solar/windpower farms all over Durham Region. At the same time a smaller portion would go to a charity that presented it's need as the most pressing and worthy at the time.(they could apply yearly) This entity would be an "Alternate Energy" Power Generation Company that would network all over Durham Region utilizing available spaces for solar panels on rooftops of charities/building owners who wish to participate. The "Feed In Tarrif" system works and is a financially sustainable proposition. Additionally, there would be room for investors to purchase certificates that yield an annual dividend based on the productivity of the particular solar farm invested in, the money gained will expand the solar farms even further, in 20 years a power generation system will be widespread all over Durham Region that generates cash to fund the charity organizations that change lives for the better, ie "The Refuge" for youth. This is an innovative concept that will continue to grow and bless humanity for decades to come. With the improved government payment of 80 cents per kilowatt hour, the break even rate occurs much faster than the previous 8-10 years ROI term, the ROI term is shortend to as low as 4-5 years. It is financially prudent to start with as large a seed capital as possible, ($250,000) to get the most amount of money ROI to set up smaller systems each year. If you need proof of this viability I know of an operating solar wind farm who has documented excellent ROI on his systems.
