Unlike the many "Children's Wish" foundations, there is no foundation out there to grant a last wish to dying parents. I am a father of two children. I have cancer. I do not have the financial means to grant my family a dying wish. In my case it is a family vacation. To another it might be to visit their parents before they die. To another a memory. I want to leave memories for my children. With my wifes assistance and agreement to carry on this challange, I want to leave a legacy so other dying parents can have the opportunity to leave that one big memory to carry on for a lifetime when they are no longer alive. This would be geared to lower income families who do not have the financial means to do this on their own.

You've posted this on my 78th birthday. I have often pondered the extreme differences of the length of time each of us has on this earth. It is sad - heart wrenching to see persons in the hard space for which you're trying to find some relief, not just for self but for all who need it. I wish you success. Especially I hope you find a personal way to your holiday.

I volunteer on the Board of Help Fill A Dream Foundation in Victoria, British Columbia. As you mentioned, it is one of those foundations for children's dreams and to support families in the initial stages and with special projects for their child. My father recently passed away. I believe that I understand where you are coming from. I think that your idea is wonderful. I would like to take your idea to my Board, if that is okay with you. My thoughts are with you and your family on this journey.

Paul I hope you get this wish for you and your family. I know how hard this disease is and to look forward to and spend a holiday with the ones you love can be worth more than money can buy.
