Did you know? Students in today's classrooms are more technologically savvy than ever before. Their exposure to and skills with technology surpasses even their teachers. Reaching and engaging these 21st century learners is a challenge faced by every teacher in every grade.

At Quaker Road School, we have a dynamic staff who are willing to embrace new technology and new ways of teaching and learning in their classrooms. We would like to see a SMART Board in every classroom to help with the delivery, planning, sharing and modifying of lessons to promote learning in many ways. Failure to provide students with these technological experiences is a failure to educate the whole child and prepare them for the world in which we live.

We need your support to ensure our students will grow in the ability to reach a global audience by safely using technology, thinking critically about what they read on the computer and adapting to the ever-changing technological landscape.

  Thanks for taking the time to vote everyone! Don't forget to come back each day to vote. One vote per email address (so if you have 2 email addresses register both of them). We have 7 more days to make it to the semi finals this round. If we don't make it this time we have one more chance, but wouldn't it be great to make it there now.   Well, we didn't make it to the semi finals in Round Two. We still have one more chance in Round 3. During Round 2 we had over 600 votes, but the ideas that made it through to the semi final had 2000-3000 more votes than us. We need your votes. Don't forget you can vote once a day per email address. Get your family, friends registering and voting for each email address they have. We can do this but it will take team work from all of us! Thank you to everyone who is supporting our idea and trying to make our wish come true!!

  in my opinion we do not need these smartboards! personally, we could use them yes but if we fail to take care of the smartboard we have now (IE I Normally end up fixing it.. ) then i do not think we should be privileged to acquire such technology. Also Upon saying that.. The teachers play a big role in why we shouldnt get these boards, alot of teachers are computer/technology illiterates which means they fail to operate some of the basic tasks on our computers, never mind a thousand dollar smart board that if they corrupt or fail to treat properly will break. my last and final idea that i would like to point out is how big the smartboards have been built up to be, truthfully its guaranteed that we will not acquire any such techonology until later in the future (atleast 5-6yrs) unless we act now.. we are the most funded school in welland. why? because we intergrate a high school spirit into fundraisers which proves a high positive feedback via the students... the people that choose what

  Alright Quaker we have about a week left to get the votes. A question came up that I thought I would share the answer. Are you aware that you are allowed to vote for more than one idea? There are some really great ideas in here and I understand some of you and/or your parents have found something else you would like to vote for. That is ok.   Well, everyone with only 1 day left and the top 20 ideas ranging from 4900 to 8900 I don't think we are going to make it to the semi finals. :( We certainly did try hard and I thank everyone for supporting our idea.
