Youth. Passion. Showcase. of the Performing Arts is a newly registered NPO aiming to hold a large-scale talent show organized, run, performed, and inspired by students. Our purpose is to showcase youth talent and passion for the stage. Through the actions of the group, YPS will give youth an opportunity to debut in the community and immerse themselves in the world of performance.

This year, the very first year, YPS will be held in the GTA area in the spring. Auditions will commence in February, spanning six cities: Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Mississauga, Etobicoke, Scarborough, and Toronto.

YPS of the Performing Arts is founded

  • To facilitate and forge strong connections between youth in the community and the artistic community.
  • To provide youth an experience to grow through performance.
  • To positively enhance the profile of youth in the community.
  • To influence change, through positive actions.
  • To respect and celebrate the diversity in the talent of the youth community.
  • To provide youth with performance opportunities that will encourage personal and career growth.
  • To support charities of related causes, this year being Make-A-Wish Foundation.

YPS aims to showcase youth talent to the community and support charities with related causes.

We consider the YPS event to be a success if:

  • Performers and members provide positive feedback about their experience with YPS
  • Strong relationships are established with local sponsors and supporters
  • A minimum of 700 out of 800 seats are filled in the theatre
  • A minimum of $300 raised for Make a Wish Foundation

To successfully uphold our values and realize our goals, YPS will need the support of people and businesses within the community. We hope to closely collaborate with individuals and groups to establish positive relationships.

YPS will use funds for:

  • Insurance and Permit fees required for renting the venue ($600 for liability insurance, $21 for a permit)
  • Printing audition and show posters, flyers, brochures, and tickets (estimated at around $640)
  • Renting audition sites in each of the six cities ($228)
  • Renting necessary equipment for the auditions and/or show
  • Renting the venue and its facilities, as well as security during the show ($110 for light/sound, $114 for security, $984 for the venue)
