Restoring Steam Locomotive #219

Overview:

The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre (NORMHC) has recently acquired former Temiskaming and Northern Ontario steam Locomotive #219.  The locomotive was originally built in 1907 and is one of the oldest surviving locomotives operated throughout the region.  The locomotive is currently located in Cochrane, Ontario and the museum is preparing to transport it to Capreol, Ontario. 

The museum won the bid to purchase the locomotive back in June, 2012 after a frantic two weeks of appealing to local business owners and individuals for support.  By acquiring the said locomotive, the museum ensured that #219 would not meet the fate of the cutting torch.

T& NO #219 is currently a sight for sore eyes and is in dire need of some tender loving care. NORMHC is seeking assistance with the extensive refurbishment of this unit.  Once completed, the locomotive will be put on display in Prescott Park next to retired Canadian National steam locomotive #6077.  The museum is very excited about the potential of sharing such a rich piece of railroading heritage with all of its visitors.
