Postpartum Fitness for Moms and Early Fitness for Babies
The project will enable parents to safely exercise with
their children in a secure environment, recognize physical developmental delays
for early intervention, encourage early movement by giving the parents the
tools to help develop their child's fine and gross motor skills, to encourage a
love of exercise. This stage of growth is important for brain development and
the stimulation of all body systems for mother and child. Help mothers recover
physically, mentally, emotionally from childbirth, boost self-esteem.
Benefits to Mom
:
Strengthen muscles to help with carrying, lifting baby.
Strengthen pelvic floor, preventing bladder, urinary
problems.
Support weight loss by boosting metabolic rate.
Prevent sadness/baby blues by increasing endorphin release.
Increase energy, release stress by reducing cortisol
levels.
Boost self-esteem through physical empowerment.
Benefits to Baby
Strengthen bond.Improves respiratory, circulatory, digestive and nervous systems functions.
Aids brain development.
Stretching awakens baby's senses, boosts muscle tone, coordination.
Increase alertness.
Baby Yoga: parents will learn from instructor through
hands-on stimulation and developmental exercise activities, such as age
appropriate fine and gross motor activities. Other benefits would include
socialization and parental bonding.
Post-partum Exercise & Yoga: Moms will learn from
instructor how to recover physically and mentally from child birth, setting and achieving personal health goals. Other benefits would include
socialization, shared experiences and breaking isolation. Participants are active in their own post-partum health recovery and become
positive examples for their families.
