Overview:
ROOF has been supporting homeless and at-risk youth, age 12-25, for over 20 yrs in Waterloo Region. LIFELINE is exactly that...a lifeline for this marginalized and vulnerable population. LIFELINE is the foundation of all ROOF programs. Via LIFELINE, we are able to supports thousands of youth in need of food, shelter, medical care, advocacy, and referrals. ROOF is open 24/7 and provides a 4-pronged approach that is truly holistic in nature. Our LIFELINE offers youth daytime access to essential services (laundry, showers, food, computer lab, medical care, hygiene products, locker space, a supportive shoulder, referrals, clothing, and crisis counseling). LIFELINE offers youth evening access to drop-in services that include relevant programming (ie: anger management, recreational programs, psycho-educational programs , food, showers, laundry, etc.). Once involved in LIFELINE, youth can access our shelter beds. This program, known as PAR (providing a roof) is a 10-bed co-ed emergency shelter for youth age 16-25. ROOF also offers street outreach - a service that finds vulnerable youth and invites them to better understand the services available to them in Waterloo Region. Outreach provides consumable foods, clothing, and accompaniment to court, social services, or medical appointments. ROOF also employes homeless or at-risk youth in one of two, 12-week social enterprise programs. The premise behind these programs is to provide the youth with paid employment, increasing their skills and work experience, and building their resumes. Together, all these programs offer a holistic service to the youth in our community. Together, this is their LIFELINE.
