Overview:

My family and I moved from the city to our hometown of  Broad Cove, a small community in Conception Bay,Newfoundland  about a year ago. The area has so many great qualities like beautiful secenery ,friendly people ,family and good friends. One thing that  is missing in the area is a community playground. I came to this conclusion when my three year old daughter asked me to take her to the playground!  We then went looking for a playground and sadly realized that there were no swings or slides for her or any child to use. I found this to be very upsetting. To help with this I  formed a Recreation Committee in the area with hopes to raise funds to build our playground, and to have a safe place for all kids to enjoy.
Our Recreation Committee has set out a plan for our playground that will not only help our kids, but also the teenagers ,adults and grandparents as well.  It will consist of swings, slides, bouncy bugs, and a large playcentre.Along the boundary line of the playground there will be a walking trail so caregivers can see their children and still have their physical activity (walk or run). Also there will be a memory garden with picnic tables ,flowers, and benches where  people could  just sit and relax. For our teenagers there will be a basketball court that can also be used as a road hockey area. Our Recreation Committee has discussed these plans to make sure it has everything that all age groups can use. It will be a place for physical activity, a safe place to gather as a family, sit and relax," a community haven!"
Our committee have had numerous fundraisers over the last year and the people in the community have shown great support. We would not have made it so far without their support and we as a committee are hoping to return the favour by getting this community playground finished!
