  • Idea Created:

    October 15, 2012

    Budget:

    Large ($100K - 150K)

Overview:

Imagine being able to give grants for design research and special projects.
Imagine being able to give scholarships for design students and professionals.
Imagine being able to assist designers in crisis through a benevolent fund.

That is what the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) is imagining too, in creating the GDC Foundation.

Graphic designers are integral to daily life in Canada and contribute to the culture, economy and national identity. The GDC Foundation will be a resource for the design profession in Canada, support designers suffering career-challenging difficulties and support higher education for designers.

Thanks to a generous, caring community, we’ve raised almost $30,000 towards those goals so far and need grow the fund to at least $100,000 to make it self-sustaining. We can begin using the interest on the fund in 2013 for these benevolent projects, if we reach this goal.

The GDC's national office is located in Ottawa and serves designers across Canada in nine chapters as well as members at large.
