Overview:I am on a committee of parents that would like to build a concrete skatepark for the children in our community. We are a small town named Montague, in Eastern PEI and would like to have a place where children of all ages can skateboard, bike and roller blade. We feel, especially in these economic times, a skatepark would enable children who for one reason or another can't play organized sport, an option to get some exercise and have fun with their friends. We would also like to put in some green gym equipment so adults in the community would have a place to work out as well. We have been working on this idea for a year now. We have been in touch with 2 companies which build skateparks. Our biggest stumbling block is funding, which is why we are hoping the Aviva Community Fund would look at our project as a viable entry. It would help give children in a rural community something wonderful to use and enjoy. Our park would draw from rural communities with in a 40 km. radius as there are no other concrete skateparks east of Charlottetown. We hope that you will consider our project for funding.
Sincerely, Linda Menzie.
