Overview:

Griesbach Community is a former Canadian Military Lands located in Edmonton Alberta. The 620 acre parcel is currently being redeveloped into public housing in the style of years gone past with memorials and streets dedicated to Canadian military Heros and special battles. There is presently a kindergarden to grade 9 school being built in our community with a completion date of Sept 2012. Unfortuately there are no plans for a playground for the children at this time. It is hard to imagine no playground in our great neighborhood as we have many young children residing here. The idea of the playground being dedicated to commemorate the sacrifices of our soldiers has been discussed as well although we are in early planning at this point. Perhaps something as simple as "Peace Park" where previous sacrifices would not go unforgotten. We also envision a great playground that is enviromentally designed and planned as well as mentally and physically challenging. It will become a gathering place for Children and their families to gather with others. A community focal point. At this point over sixty families recently commited to the development of a community league. A traditional community league with families working together to enhance our neighborhood. And what would be a better starting point than to create a great new playground for families. With a great start from Aviva. Thank you and have a Great Day!!!
