How To Create A Winning Idea
Here's our advice to help you earn votes and impress our judges.
You know better than anyone what's needed in your community. But we have some ideas that will help increase your chances of submitting a winning idea to the Aviva Community Fund.
Promote your idea
Once you've registered and entered your idea it's time to promote your idea and start getting those votes. Have a look at last year's winners for inspiration and check out our tips below.
Get a Broker to support your idea
If a broker supports your idea by voting for it, your idea will automatically be entered into the Brokerage Competition. Use our Find a Broker tool to locate one in your community, and be sure to opt in.
Reach out to friends & family
Ask family, friends, and neighbours to show their support. Put up posters in your neighborhood, host a BBQ or tea party. Be sure to use the email option on your Promote My Idea page, we'll include a link back to your idea.
Use Social Media like Twitter, Facebook & Google+
You can get even more votes by promoting your idea on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and all your favourite online communities. You can use the tools on our site to set up regular reminders.
Contact the press
Put together a press kit and send it to your community newspapers, radio and television stations. Ask them for their support.
Vote Often
You have 15 votes to use for each round of voting. All of those votes could be used for your idea, one each day. Be sure to let your supporters know, and ask them to tell two friends, and have those friends tell two friends, and so on.
Keep updating your submission
A picture's worth a thousand words and a video, well that's made up of thousands of pictures, so you do the math. New pictures and videos are a great reason to visit your idea again. Use them to tell your story, and keep adding content as the competition goes on.
